Open Door Policy

The issue of this political cartoon is on the start of the Open Door Policy. The message is how countries had to work together in hopes to find prosperity for their countries. This cartoon supports my view in American Imperialism because Uncle Sam is towering over all the countries showing his superiority over the other countries. This shows that America was a big contributor to the China trade. Some techniques the cartoonist uses in this cartoon is symbolism and also labeling. Uncle Sam is the only person standing and talking while other countries are just sitting and listening, which symbolizes its position. All the other countries including Uncle Sam are standing on the land that they are representing which labels where they are from. If a foreign person saw this cartoon, the person would probably say that America is hogging the trade in China.
