Purchase of Alaska
The issue of this political cartoon is on Purchase of Alaska. The cartoon supports my position on American Imperialism because it shows how America used their money to purchase Alaska in hopes to prosper. Many Americans did not support this purchase, but the people soon realized they were wrong. America did not just grow territory but they grew many valuable resources. These valuable resources included timber, oil, wood, and many other minerals that was scarce in America. The cartoonist's message is how America used their money to buy one of Russia's territory. Although the cartoon portrays Russia as a piece of ice, it was just providing America with resources. Some techniques that the cartoonist used was labeling and symbolism. The piece of ice that says Russian America is labeling and the Russians in the back holding money is symbolism. If a Russian person saw this cartoon, the people might have been angry and regretful because it was so valuable.
