Open Door Policy
This political cartoon is about the Open Door Policy. The cartoonist's message on this issue was how China opened up and how all the different countries were trying to get the key from Uncle Sam. A foreign person who lived in Europe at that time might've disagreed saying that America was hogging the key and taking over the trade. Another example of what a Chinese person would say would be that they don't like how other countries were disturbing their customs. I know this because on the cartoon, America is the only country with the key to the entrance of China. Additionally, Chinese people in the back don't look happy or welcoming at all. This cartoon supports my position on American Imperalism because I believe that if one country wants to expand territory, their sphere of influence, and trade with different methods, that its acceptable. This cartoon supports this because Uncle Sam is towering over all the countries which means he probably in control over the foreign countries.
